Riding BART

San Francisco Chronicle on Miller riding BART:

Question of the day: How many of those pols actually TAKE public transportation? It's one thing to show up glad-handing at a train station ground-breaking. It's another to ride the train.

At least one man stands (rides?) alone: Rep. George Miller. We saw the Martinez Democrat riding BART Tuesday night -- alone -- on the very same train as us, just before we exited for our stop. (George is darn lucky that our Shaky Hand Productions video cam ran out of batteries or we would have posted a video of him, lids half-closed, thumbing through Time magazine. It would have been the most boring video since this.) So yes, the 65-year-old chair of the House Education and Labor Committee, the co-architect of health care reform, takes public transportation. Shouldn't be a big thing, right. The longtime enviro advocate is just walking the talk. But what other politicians have you seen taking public transpo? Bonus points if they're mayoral level or higher. (Joe Garofoli's blog, August 11 2010 at 03:55 PM)
